Honouring Excellence: Jaydon Haustein Receives the 2024 Brian Knull Memorial Scholarship

CANTERRA SEEDS is proud to announce Jaydon Haustein from the County of Stettler as the 2024 Brian Knull Memorial Scholarship recipient! Jaydon is a second-year Agronomy student at Lethbridge Polytechnic and has been a member of the Erskine 4-H Beef Club for nine consecutive years.

Jaydon Haustein’s winning essay stood out for its heartfelt reflection on his upbringing on the family farm and the profound influence of his father. Jaydon shared how his father, an Agricultural Technician, instilled a deep appreciation for the hard work and innovation required in modern farming. "Starting at six years old, I had my early agronomy lessons in the field, from soil sampling to crop monitoring," Jaydon recounted. These hands-on experiences have shaped his understanding of agriculture and fueled his passion to pursue a post-secondary education in Agronomy.

In selecting this career path, Jaydon hopes to ease the some of the burden off his father and contribute to the growth of the family farm – continuing the legacy of his father’s hard work and dedication. His aspirations align perfectly with the values of the Brian Knull Memorial Scholarship—academic excellence, leadership, and a commitment to the agricultural community.

Established in 2018 by CANTERRA SEEDS and the Knull Family, this scholarship celebrates the legacy of Brian Knull by encouraging rural students to pursue post-secondary education. Brian Knull hailed from Wetaskiwin County and dedicated over 40 years to agriculture. As a CANTERRA SEEDS Territory Manager and a leader in the local 4-H community, he was known for his unwavering work ethic, dedication, and commitment to helping others. This scholarship reflects those values, aiming to inspire students to follow in his footsteps and make a positive impact in the agricultural industry.
