About Courtney Welch

Courtney joined CANTERRA SEEDS in November 2020 as the Canola Product Manager, overseeing the lifecycle and acquisition of canola hybrids within our portfolio. Collaborating with the whole CANTERRA SEEDS team and external partners, Courtney ensures that the portfolio aligns with the evolving needs of farmers. With a background as an Agronomic Research Specialist at Monsanto/Bayer where she worked on pre-commercial breeding programs for corn, canola, and soybeans, Courtney brings invaluable experience to the CANTERRA SEEDS team.

She grew up in Southern Ontario before moving to Manitoba in 2005. While she doesn’t have a background in farming, she decided to pursue agriculture in university, drawn by the opportunity to work with people, apply science, and be out and about in the countryside! She holds the title of Professional Agrologist in Manitoba and earned a Bachelor of Science in Plant Biotechnology, marking significant accomplishments in her field.

At home in Winnipeg, Courtney enjoys family time with her husband, two young boys, and their dog. She has always been a bookworm and has recently added audiobooks to her "reading" to get even more content in! She loves being active – from running half marathons to skiing, she is always finding a new way to move. In her downtime, she also likes to play games - anything from cards, to puzzles, to strategic board games with family and friends.
