Laura Haenni Crowned Winner of 2019 Brian Knull Memorial Scholarship

CANTERRA SEEDS is honoured to name Laura Haenni as this year’s recipient of the Brian Knull Memorial Scholarship.

The Brian Knull Memorial Scholarship was created in 2018 by CANTERRA SEEDS and the Knull family, to honour the memory of Brian Knull, beloved co-worker and friend. The $1,500 scholarship encourages rural students to continue their education at a post-secondary institution and is awarded on an annual basis.

Laura Haenni is in her second year of studies at the University of Lethbridge, taking her Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Agriculture Biotechnology. After completing her degree, she’s interested in pursuing a career in agronomy or horticulture.

“I find it compelling to learn about how crops and yields can be improved and how diseases can be treated and prevented,” says Haenni. “Agriculture is one of the most important jobs, and I look forward to having a career in something that is so crucial.”

This year, there were many deserving students who applied for the scholarship, but Laura’s application rose to the top. “It was a hard decision to make,” says Sherry Knull, wife of Brian Knull. “The Knull family all feel Laura is a very worthy recipient of this year’s award.”

Congratulations goes out to Laura, and all the best of luck with your studies!
