About Emma Cowie

Emma joined the CANTERRA SEEDS team in February 2026 as Pedigreed Seed Product Development Manager. Emma was raised on a grain farm in western Manitoba, where she developed an early fascination with plant breeding and genetics. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences at the University of Manitoba, where she completed an undergraduate research project identifying bacteria with the potential to reduce sclerotinia infection on canola. Before joining CANTERRA SEEDS, Emma helped to plan and coordinate trait evaluation trials across the Prairies and into the Northern U.S. in her role as Research Agronomy Specialist at Cibus.

Emma brings her experience in research trialling, data analysis, and plant genetics to CANTERRA SEEDS, where her skills are used to ensure that farmers are given access to the very best available genetics through the licensing of new varieties. Her role also includes coordinating marketing trials, lifecycle management of CANTERRA SEEDS' large portfolio of pedigreed crops, and participating in market development activities.

Outside of work, Emma enjoys reading, gardening, curling, and any excuse to spend time outdoors, especially camping and hiking. She lives in Niverville, MB with her husband and two very spoiled cats.
