Rooted in the Prairies Project is Back for Another Year!

Celebrating 25 years in the seed business in 2021 was a big deal for us at CANTERRA SEEDS, and to have the opportunity to give back to those that helped get us here was very important. As a sincere thank you to our seed grower shareholders and farmers across the Prairies, we launched the Rooted in the Prairies Project

CANTERRA SEEDS' shareholders and Western Canadian farmers could apply for one of ten $2,500 donations for a charity or non-profit of their choice. All entries were judged, and ten winners were chosen. These winners had the option to take the monetary $2,500 to their charity of choice, or 'amplify' the winnings by taking $2,500 worth of CANTERRA SEEDS seed and donating the resulting profit at the end of the 2021 season.

In 2021, we had four winners match the $2,500 donation given by CANTERRA SEEDS for a total of $5,000 going to each charity, and two winners who amplified the $2,500 donation, which resulted in each giving over $60,000 to their charity of choice. In total, the Rooted in the Prairies Project donated over $161,000 to local causes!

CANTERRA SEEDS was astounded by the number of nominations and overall support for Rooted in the Prairies Project, so we're doing it again!

CANTERRA SEEDS is investing a total of $25,000 across the Prairies for 2022

We are excited to announce the extension of the Rooted in the Prairies Project as a new philanthropic approach for CANTERRA SEEDS, stemming from our 25th anniversary. Because we are so deeply rooted in the Canadian Prairies and connection is a big part of our corporate culture, we are committed to investing back into local communities our customers and partners live and thrive in.

This year's nomination period has been opened to include anyone active in the ag community in CANTERRA SEEDS' ten sales territories (located in Alberta and the Peace River Region of B.C., Saskatchewan, and Manitoba). As well, instead of allocating $2,500 per winner, the nomination form now allows a request of funds by dollar amount or 'amplify' cost (eg. five bags of canola seed). If your local sports team needs $500 for new jerseys, or you’re in need of 10 bags of canola to donate the field to help replace life-saving medical equipment at your local health centre, we want to see it all!

To enter, visit canterra.com/rooted-project and fill out the nomination form. The nomination period ends March 31, 2022 so don't delay!
